Safety Plans

Free template download & consultations for individualized plans

A safety plan is a tool you (female or male) have before leaving any dysfunctional/narcissistic relationship.

You take time to consider your situation, what is needed to stay safe individually, and if you have any children or pets. A safety plan is all about minimizing the risk of harm.

I believe a safety plan is vital for anyone in a dysfunctional, toxic, narcissistic, neglectful, or violent relationship. A safety plan is helpful when someone is hurting you, stalking you, or you are making plans to leave. The primary (free) safety plan will cover the basics of resources of safe places, the need for a code word, protecting your data, whom to trust for support, how to stay safe, changes needed, and secure ways to leave. You will fill the template out for yourself and refer back to it as often as needed until you know it without thinking about the details.

The individual plan will cover the above but will be tailored specifically to your circumstances. It will include 45-minute consultation of your situation, fears, ages of children, location, support systems, code words for different situations, and how to address and practice with your children. We will discuss the exact steps for current and future possible harmful situations, how a temporary restraining order can be helpful, the pitfalls, and follow-through. We will discuss risks you may have but haven’t considered and add specifics to your plan, as well as what it means to protect yourself and any children or pets you have.
